Sea Salt from Wrightsville Beach - New flavors!

Posted by Stacy Thompson on

Calling all foodies and friends who love to cook!  New flavors of Sea Love Sea Salt  are available in our shop.  Customers have loved our coarse, all natural finishing salts in interesting flavors.  You'll love to try them yourself, or give to someone as a family chef's treat.    Owner, Amanda Jacobs, hand-harvests seawater, by the 5 gallon bucket, from Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.  She literally dips the buckets in the surf at the beach (what a job, huh?) and loads the buckets into her truck and heads back to the farm.  She filters the water and the salt is...

Maybe we all need a little Hygge

Posted by John Thompson on

One of Oxford dictionary's 2016 words of the year was "HYGGE".  Pronounced, "hoo-guh", it is a Danish term that is best defined as a feeling of contentment or well-being.   While our country is going through many changes as of this blog post, there's no direct translation of the Danish term "hygge", but it's best associated with the need of a little comfort.  Also, hygge is closely related to relaxation and perhaps gratitude.  A journalist once described the word as a feeling of "taking pleasure in gentle, soothing things, like a freshly brewed cup of coffee and a pair of...

Have you tried Raleigh's Larry's Coffee?

Posted by Stacy Thompson on

Hey everyone!  Lauralee Gifts introduced Larry's Coffee in our shop last summer.   Larry's Coffee is roasted and packed right here in Raleigh.  We like this local company for it's sustainable manufacturing process using solar power, and for Larry's efforts to create a smaller carbon footprint in his business.  Larry grew up in Seattle and had a great love for coffee. After attending graduate school in the southeast, he began building relationships with coffee bean growers across many countries to make their businesses and families self-sufficient as well.  You can read all about their process on Larry's Coffee website.  ...
